LSR Group released over 33 thousand fry into the Neva River

27 April 2021

LSR.Basic, a subsidiary of LSR Group (the largest real estate development and construction company in terms of construction volumes in the North-West region), released 33,452 atlantics salmon fry into the Neva River in compensation for the possible impact on aquatic biological resources. The event took place near the Ostrovki village in Vsevolozhsky district of the Leningrad region, from where the yearlings will gradually move into the waters of the Gulf of Finland.

Compensatory measures were held as part of the land reclamation project to raise elevation marks using the technology of hydraulic fill on the Neva Bay in 2017-2018.

“LSR Group strives to use the best practices in its operations aimed at minimizing the negative impact on the environment, - notes Vasily Kostritsa, Deputy CEO of LSR Group for Building Materials. - Therefore, our actions to maintain the ecosystem of the Gulf of Finland have become a logical step in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, which the company adheres to”.

The fry were raised at the Nevsky fish-breeding farm of the North-West branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Glavrybvod". The release process was monitored by specialists from the North-West Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fishery, who confirmed that all requirements were met and that the fish was in satisfactory condition. It should be noted that LSR.Basic is the only enterprise in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region that carries out both the extraction of sea sand and the formation of new territories using its own specialized fleet.

At the moment, a large-scale residential complex "Morskaya Naberezhnaya" is being developed on the reclaimed territory. Overall, 47 buildings with 9,250 apartments, underground parking for more than 5.4 thousand parking spaces, as well as commercial premises have been designed here. The windows of the buildings in the first row overlook the Gulf of Finland. The project also involves the creation of a two-kilometer comfortable pedestrian embankment, a softwood park and the necessary social infrastructure.
