LSR Group’s Tyufeleva Roscha and Russky Dom Win the 2019 International Architecture Awards
04 July 2019
LSR Group’s two projects, the premium-class residential project Russky Dom (Russian House) built in the heart of St. Petersburg, and Tyufeleva Roscha Park created as part of the ZILART project in Moscow, were ranked among the world’s best architectural projects over the past few years.
More than 120 from the 350 shortlisted international projects have become awardees. The presented architectural solutions ranged from ultra-modern airports and business centres to restaurants interiors and urban parks landscape designs. Among the award winners are both prominent architects and young rising stars, as well as bureaus from more than 40 countries. There were only three projects from Russia, two of which were created by LSR Group.
Tyufeleva Roscha Park was also included in the shortlist of the World Architecture Festival (WAF) in the nomination “Landscape – Urban”. The Park concept was developed by the architectural bureau !melk under the direction of Jerry van Eyck, the Dutch American landscape designer and urbanist. The landscaped area covers 10 hectares in total, almost half of which are urban green spaces with more than 4,000 various trees and shrubs. The architectural dominant of the park is the metal pergola with wooden linings, representing a 1.3-kilometer-long covered walking area, an observation deck and a public art object.
Russky Dom, designed by the famous St. Petersburg architect Yevgeny Gerasimov, demonstrates the traditions of à la Russe style - the complex was built as if it was a traditional St. Petersburg revenue house of the 19th and 20th centuries. The great representation of this unique style are different height buildings (from 5 to 9 floors) connected in a harmonious arrangement, along with the visual separation of the basement and crowning parts; the rhythmic pattern of the roof, reminiscent of a tower; and the contrast between stone trim, artistic decor and stylised carvings. The main feature of the project and the core of the architectural solution is the main entrance, designed as a courtyard overlooking the Basque Lane.
