New Planning Regulations will be Elaborated on the Basis of the ZILAR Project

The major conference “Comfortable City. History of Success of Large-Scale Urban Projects” organized by the Committee for Architecture and Urban Development of Moscow was held in the Skolkovo Innovation Center on November 22. The ZILART Residential Complex, Zaryadye Park, Skolkovo Innovation Center and Luzhniki Sports Complex were presented on this event. Representatives of municipal authorities, developers, architects and advisors familiarized the community of professionals with major projects of redevelopment and reconstruction, their implementation process and impact on the urban environment.

The opening speech on the session dedicated to the global reorganization of the AMO ZIL territory was delivered by the Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov. He pointed out that redevelopment of the former industrial area was one of the critical projects for the city, by the example of which new regional planning regulations are elaborated.

The large-scale project of the ZILART Residential Complex was presented by the Managing Director of LSR Group in Moscow, Ivan Romanov. His speech included details about arrangement of the comfortable environment and the concept of the “city inside the city”, and he mentioned that implementation of such a major and unique project would have a great impact not only on development of the district, but also on formation of a brand new approach to the architecture of residential construction projects and integrated territory development.

“About one million square meters of residential areas based on the uniform design code, the unique educational center that has no analogs in any Russian city, and cultural objects among which one could point out the drama theater, the concert hall and the “Hermitage-Moscow” Modern Art Museum will have been built by 2022. Over 30 leading world and Russian architects are engaged in design works, and the northern part of the ZILART Park which is going to become a new attraction center in the capital will be opened in 2017”, Ivan Romanov specified.

In particular, the Manager of the Meganom Project Office Yury Grigoryan reported about features of the architecture on the ZIL territory. He emphasized importance of interaction with historic development at the site and special principles of arrangement of new territories. From the perspective of the elaborated concept, facades of some buildings will preserve the memory about the Constructivism, and more than 4 thousand plants will be set out on ZIL streets.

Denis Kolokolnikov, the President of RRG consulting company, who reported about the strategy of implementation of commercial facilities in the ZILART Residential Complex and prospects of development of commercial premises within integrated urban development, concluded the session.
