OJSC PO Barrikada Honoured with the Title of ‘Elite Construction Complex of Russia’

26 August 2008

OJSC PO Barrikada has been honoured with the title of ‘Elite Construction Complex of Russia’ at the 12th All-Russian Contest of construction companies, building materials and construction industry entities.

2008 was marked with the culmination of Barrikada’s active participation in the contest for the past five years. For several years running Barrikada was repeatedly acknowledged as ‘Leading Construction Complex of Russia’ but this year it obtained a new, higher title, ‘Elite Construction Complex of Russia.’

The contest results were traditionally summed up on the eve of Builder’s Day at the joint meeting of the Board of the Federal Agency for Construction, Housing and Utilities, Builders Union of Russia and the branch trade union.

The contest aims at identifying the best performing entities and companies of the construction sector and design offices  operating in a new economic environment as well as encouraging the promotion and dissemination of the best practices in construction, design work and manufacture of building materials.

The contest is actively supported by the authorities of Russian regions and the territorial Builders Unions. It is organized by:
• Federal Agency for Construction, Housing and Utilities (RF State Committee for Construction and the Housing and Utilities Complex)
• Builders Union of Russia and the Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Workers of the Russian Federation.

The criteria developed by the Contest Committee provide for objective selection of nominees.
For summing up the results of construction companies and building materials manufacturers the following performance indicators are assessed:
• implementation of the investment/production programme
• financial and economic results
• social activities and labour safety
• scientific and technological level of production
• quality of construction and installation work/products made
• licensing process.
The title awarded to OJSC PO Barrikada proves that the company is one of the best companies in Russia by all of the above indicators.
In addition, the contest takes into consideration the activities of the management of companies/entities aimed at improving the work environment of disabled workers employed by the companies.
All winners receive awards and the companies are included in the list of the best 150 construction companies and 100 building materials and construction industry entities, the leaders of Russia’s construction complex.
In 2008, the organizers are planning to publish an Encyclopaedia listing the contest winners.
