International exchange of experience
28 March 2006
One of those taking part in the seminar was Tage Erikson, General Director of Finnmаp Consulting Oy, who began by talking about the period of transition to building from pre-cast ferro-concrete, which Finland underwent during the 1970s and 1980s. He shared experience as it related to the rearrangement of projects as the result of technology changes, and paid attention to matters of making economies in building. Mr Erikson made the point that similar processes were taking place in Russia at the present moment, and expressed his readiness to take part in the reorientation of the Russian market to building technologies using pre-cast ferro-concrete.
One of the guests at the seminar was Ritva Kokkola, a representative of the Finnish architectural company, KBA. In her speech, Mme. Kokkola gave examples of housing quarters built in Latvia and Russia according to individual projects, which used non-standard ferro-concrete products. The Finnish guest spoke a lot about the different varieties of façade-finishing, which not only helped to hide the joins between the ferro-concrete slabs, but also gave variety to the external appearance of the building.
In conclusion, Lasse Rajala, head of the department at Finnmаp Consulting Oy responsible for working with foreign partners, spoke about the materials used in building in Finland, and paid particular attention to the junctions and details of framework elements used. This part of the seminar gave rise to the greatest number of questions from the audience, since ferro-concrete products with Finnish parts inserted are already being manufactured at Barrikada’s plants and their continued production is assessed as one of the most promising areas for development.
For information: In April last year, the Barrikada Combine concluded a cooperation agreement with the Finnish concern, Finnmap Oy. Within the framework of this agreement, projects were set up and ferro-concrete products manufactured and supplied to a number of sites in Russia including: the Start Hypermarket at Kupchino, the Karusel Hypermarket on Bukharestskaya Street at the corner of Marshal Zhukov and Leninsky Prospekts, the Nokian Tyre Plant in Vsevolozhsk and a number of others.
