A new weighing machine

01 June 2006

At a ceremony attended by interested parties, Vladimir Vladimirovitch Nikitin, the manager of ZAO Gatchinsky DSK, and Viktor Vladimirovitch Kurlov, deputy director of the LSR Building Group, cut a symbolic red tape, officially starting the work of the new weighing machine. And, as usual at opening ceremonies, lots of congratulatory speeches were made and kind words said about the combine and its workers.

The weighing machine is designed for weighing loads delivered by motorized transport. The site of the weighing machine was chosen carefully with all approach roads on the same horizontal plane. The operator’s compartment has an excellent view of the whole weighing platform so as to be able to supervise and provide guidance for vehicles approaching the scales. Modern electronic equipment — the VES-60 A2 — has been installed making it possible for the enterprise to weigh multi-tonne lorries.

According to Tatyana Alexeyevna Derevyanko, an engineer in the capital building department, all the structural work on the weighing machine was done under the guidance of Yuri Ivanovitch Obukhovsky, the engineer in charge of the № 3 building and installation unit. The metal constructions for the weighing machine were designed by Nikolai Ivanovitch Ursul, the leading designer at the combine. They were made at the repairs and mechanics unit, where the load-lifting platforms for the scales were also made. “Even the most highly qualified specialist,” said Tatyana Alexeyevna, “would be unable to accurately determine the weight of the product using the old equipment. So it was necessary to build a new electronic weighing machine to replace the old one. Furthermore, the height of the old weighing machine would not permit large-sized vehicles to be weighed. At present, ramps are being fitted to the weighing machine and the instruments are undergoing state inspection by the company FGU TEST — St. Petersburg, with which the combine has worked for many years. The fixed electronic scales were passed as being satisfactory, and work with them could begin. All safety measures have been taken as set out by current factory regulations.”

And so the team at ZAO Gatchinsky DSK is still out to renew the combine’s fixed assets so as to make the work of the builders more effective and productive. This is particularly relevant today when new construction projects are being launched and building is increasing.
