A new service for the St. Petersburg building market

24 January 2006

With six factories at its disposal, the company can guarantee practically any supplies to practically any part of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad District. According to Andrei Bibikov, the general director of the enterprise, “One of the main problems on a modern building site is maintaining continuity in the building work, which affects technology and deadlines. We would like it to be known that in any emergency situation, a builder could always be guaranteed quality building materials delivered to his site. The introduction of this new unique service, which is accessible both to major companies and to private builders, is just what the market needs.”

Investment in setting up the service has amounted to $350,000. Annual expenses on communications channels to provide it are in excess of $55,000. “According to our assessments,” said Andrei Bibikov, “these investments will be repaid through the service’s appeal to builders. Our research shows that the concrete market in St. Petersburg is overloaded a minimum of three times. Given such competitive conditions, the builders are right to expect that suppliers will resort to non-standard methods. So I am sure,” he stressed, “that our proposal is just what is necessary for the market today.” All factories at the enterprise are connected by fibre-optic cable and a management system and logistics proceeding from a central point and operating in real time. The client is able to track his delivery of concrete to the site via the internet. The telephone number 071 is connected to 30 lines (a channel capable of taking 2MB per sec), so it is practically never engaged. Currently, there are five operators taking orders, and there are plans to expand this specialist staff. The number 071 can be used to connect with any member of staff at Combine-45. And besides orders, customers can register complaints using the same number. So the builder can be sure that any failure on the part of the supplier to fulfil his obligations can be put right quickly. For international and inter-city calls, ring: + 7 (812) 99-071-11.

The enterprise is able to supply more than 5,000 cubic metres of product per shift. The transport fleet has more than 200 vehicles as well as hired transport coordinated on a permanent basis. In 2005, total shipments were in excess of 800,000 cubic metres of saleable concrete and mortars.
