Mr. Maxim Sokolov, Chairman of the Board and the CEO of the LSR Group, spoke about the role of the construction industry in the economy of St. Petersburg.
The Investment Forum, which is being held in St. Petersburg annually since 2015, was opened by the city’s acting governor, Mr. Alexander Beglov, who addressed the participants and the guests with the following message:
"The government of St. Petersburg is prepared to closely communicate with and provide assistance to the business community. Given the new conditions, we will look for opportunities to use other forms of preferences. We will use and improve our competitive advantage, and the specific capabilities that our city has across all sectors of the economy," Mr. Beglov told the participants.
Mr. Sokolov spoke at the plenary session, Investment Challenges of Megacities – St. Petersburg's Potential.
"The construction and the real estate markets are inextricably linked to the overall financial and economic situation in the city. Our industry is a sort of a litmus test. At the intersection of economic and social spheres, it demonstrates how developed a particular region is, as well as the country as a whole. Therefore, if the construction industry is stable, it can be said that there is stability in the region. In this case, it is important to encourage activities in this sector and improve its attractiveness as an investment," said
Mr. Sokolov. "It is only possible to successfully attract investments in the city's economy when there is a close cooperation between the government and the business. It is evident that investors in any project look for clarity and guarantees. So far, St. Petersburg has always been able to create a positive investor climate. We hope that this attitude continues in the future. For its part, LSR Group, as a responsible company with a 25-year history, is also ready to contribute to this in all ways."
The panel discussion was also attended by the following officials: Mr. Andrei Chibis, Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation, Mr. Zakhar Smushkin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of START development JSC, Mr. Dmitry Morozov, CEO of BIOCAD, Mr. Andrei Kuzyaev, President of JSC ER-Telecom Holding, and Mr. Franz Jurkowitsch, President and co-owner of Warimpex Finanz Und Beteiligungs AG.
